This series is for the foodie, the casual cook and the seasoned chef. Daniele Uditi breaks down the boundaries of pizza making by perfecting pizza at home, on a budget and with easy kitchen hacks. It all comes down to technique and sourcing high-quality ingredients.
ABOUT THE CHEF
PIZZA’S CULINARY MASTER
“Daniele Uditi was raised in Naples and in Caserta, Italy, among a family of bakers; in Los Angeles, he mines the sweet spot between tradition and innovation.” - Los Angeles Times
He began his career in the industry at the age of 12, cleaning the pizza ovens and baking loaves of bread with his aunt at the family bakery before school each morning. In 2010, Daniele traveled to the United States to work as a consulting chef for various Italian restaurants in the Los Angeles area.
During this time, Daniele began making pizzas for private parties. It all began at Chris and Caroline O’Donnell’s Sunday night pizza parties. It was at their home that the Nelsons met Daniele and where the idea for Pizzana, his Neapolitan pizza restaurant, was first born.
Chefs, food critics and celebrities rave about his pizza. The late Jonathan Gold once compared his signature Margherita pizza to one of the best in the world, placing him in Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best Restaurants in Los Angeles.
TRAVEL + KITCHEN SEQUENCES
Our pilot takes place in the kitchen; however, this series has so much potential beyond that. We want to showcase Daniele souring high-quality ingredients and the stories behind them from shop to cook.
We travel to Daniele’s hometown, meet the local purveyors that he sources ingredients from for his restaurant Pizzana. We can focus on one ingredient per episode. While abroad, we tour Daniele’s favorite pizza restaurants and chefs, learning about different flavors along the way while maintaining a common theme: high-quality ingredients and proper technique.
We then transition to the kitchen where Daniele shows viewers how to make easy and delicious pizzas using just a few high-quality ingredients. No fancy oven? No problem. There are no excuses to making delicious pizza at home. Daniele shows viewers unconventional ways to make pizza using everyday items in the kitchen.
Throughout the episode we will incorporate character animation to support Daniele’s storytelling in and out of the kitchen.
